SUMNER — It was almost as if the Bonney Lake High School football team clicked its heels and ended up in Kansas — a Kansas tiebreaker, that is.

Down 21 points when Enumclaw scored with 7 minutes, 23 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Bonney Lake looked doomed.

But the Panthers pulled off the improbable.

Reserve running back Mario Harris chugged in untouched for a 4-yard touchdown two plays into the Kansas tiebreaker overtime as Bonney Lake rallied for a 49-42 victory over the Hornets in a South Puget Sound League Class 3A game Thursday night at Sunset Chev Stadium.

Bonney Lake (5-2 overall, 3-2 league) won its homecoming game by scoring three TDs over a span of 5:41 in the fourth quarter.

"There's never been anything bigger," Harris said of football wins for the three-year-old school. "This was the biggest win for us. We were just scared we were going to lose. The coaches got us pumped up. They said, 'You guys got to do this.' It was our game."

Enumclaw (3-4, 2-3) went cold on offense in the final five minutes of regulation and overtime, watching as Panthers fans stormed the field after Citron Jackson's interception ended the game.

"This one's big," said Bonney Lake quarterback Kyle Yanusevich, who had 193 yards and two TDs on 9-of-18 passing and ran for another score. "At halftime, we were down and kind of hanging our heads. Then when we were down 21, I was thinking, 'We have to get back in this game and we can't make any mistakes.'

"This is the best win I've been a part of ever. I can't believe it."

Bonney Lake tied the score at 42 with 1:20 left when Yanusevich hit Zack Nash in the back of the end zone for a 19-yard scoring strike. The Panthers shut down Enumclaw with stout defense to force overtime.

The other late scores for Bonney Lake came on a 17-yard TD pass from Yanusevich to Casey Adams, making it 42-28, and Caleb Robinson's 10-yard TD burst that made it 42-35.
