The Bellevue football team is the 23rd best in the nation according to the Rivals.com's Fab 50.
In the regional rankings, Bellevue is third best in the West, behind St. Bonaventure of Ventura, Calif., and Mater Dei of Santa Ana, Calif.
Other Washington schools mentioned in the West region are Lakes of Tacoma, ranked 15th, and Mariner of Everett as a "team on the bubble."
Bellevue, a traditional 3A state favorite, is used to being selected in preseason rankings; the team is ninth in the West Region in USA Today's rankings.
In 2004, the Wolverines were ranked as high as second nationally. The Wolverines have beaten two nationally ranked opponents in recent years: De La Salle of Concord, Calif., and Long Beach Poly.
Bellevue went 14-0 last season, winning its fifth 3A state championship in six years.
Notes
• Two Washington volleyball programs were listed in PrepVolleyball.com's top 100. Mead of Spokane, winner of the past four 4A titles, is ranked No. 20 and Kentwood is No. 43.
• Former Stanwood football players, coaches and officials are invited to attend a reunion, in conjunction with the Spartan Red and Gray scrimmage, at noon Saturday at the Stanwood High School stadium.
