Prep Basketball Roundup | Federal Way rolls up 119 in win

KENT — Terrell Smith and Federal Way can't miss.

The Eagles, ranked second in the state in Class 4A, rolled to their sixth consecutive boys basketball victory Tuesday night, blasting Kent-Meridian 119-47 behind Smith's 44 points.

It was the third game this season of 30 or more points for Smith, a 6-foot-5 senior who has signed to play next season for the University of Pacific in Stockton, Calif. He raised his scoring average this season to 30.5.

The Eagles (6-0 overall, 3-0 South Puget Sound League North Division) led 26-6 after one quarter, 62-29 at halftime and 87-35 after three quarters.

Aaron Broussard added 26 points for Federal Way, which has had only one close game, a 52-49 victory at Kentwood.

Other boys games

Decatur 57, at Kentwood 45

The No. 6 Gators got 21 points and 12 rebounds from Darious Walker and 17 points from Marcus Tibbs to stay perfect in the SPSL 4A North.

At Kentridge 91, Kentlake 67

Junior forward Renado Parker had 27 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in an SPSL 4A North win by the Chargers. Harold Scott led Kentlake with 22 points.

Emerald Ridge 65, Spanaway Lake 49

Torey Wambold had 25 points and nine rebounds, and Emerald Ridge hit nine three-pointers in an SPSL 4A South victory. Kai Pedro scored 20 for the Sentinels.

At Beamer 38, Rogers 34

Dakin Wanquist's two free throws with 8.4 seconds left sealed an SPSL 4A South win by the Titans. Rogers scored only two points in the fourth quarter.

Oak Harbor 69, at Arlington 64

Rodrick Rumble scored 20 and James Leach 18 to help the Wildcats win a WesCo North game despite 15 points and 12 rebounds by Abe Bourasaw of the Eagles.

At Marysville-Pilchuck 67, Everett 44

Nathan Lozeau had 22 points and 10 rebounds and Jared Stohl added 16 points and eight rebounds as the No. 7 Tomahawks bounced back from a one-point loss to Snohomish in the WesCo North.

Snohomish 68, at Cascade 39

Tim Diederichs' 19 points for No. 4 Snohomish helped offset 21 points and five three-pointers by Cascade's Dirk Snel in a WesCo North game.

At Kamiak 53, Lynnwood 39

Ryan Bullock keyed a third-quarter run with 14 of his 18 points for the Knights in the WesCo South. Lynnwood's Andrew Beatty had 19.

At Jackson 70, Meadowdale 53

Senior guard Jamie Eisinger helped the Timberwolves pull away in the second half with 16 of his 22 points in the WesCo South. Dan Wishko had a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) for Jackson.

At Auburn 69, Sumner 42

T.J. Stafford and Ryan Snowden teamed for 46 points for the unbeaten Trojans in SPSL 3A.

Enumclaw 67, at Auburn Mountainview 39

Mike Vivolo had 18 points, six rebounds and four blocks for the No. 10 Hornets in SPSL 3A.

O'Dea 59, at Eastside Catholic 37

Chris Banchero scored 19 points and Josh Scott 16, making up for the absence of injured Jamelle McMillan for third-ranked O'Dea of the Metro League. Tyler Mendezona scored 16 for the Crusaders.

At Bainbridge 83, Lakeside 39

Gonzaga recruit Steven Gray scored 17 points in the first quarter of the Metro League game for No. 2 Bainbridge. Gray finished with 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting with nine assists and six steals. Coby Gibler added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans. Lakeside's Spenser Walker hit five three-pointers and scored 20 of his 27 points in the third quarter. But his teammates combined for only 12 points.

Chief Sealth 78, at Ingraham 44

Michael Timmons got the No. 4 Seahawks off to a fast start with eight of his 16 points in the first period of a Metro win. Davon Dennis scored 19 for Ingraham.

Seattle Prep 66, at Bishop Blanchet 39

The Panthers led 17-0 in the first quarter of a Metro romp. Gerald Grissette scored 19 — with three three-pointers in the second quarter — for Seattle Prep.

At Rainier Beach 77, Nathan Hale 41

Top-ranked Beach led 46-15 at halftime of the Metro game. Michael Ladd scored 18 points, Emeka Iweka had 16 points and 10 rebounds, DeAngelo Jones 13 points and 11 rebounds and Reggie Moore 13 assists for the Vikings.

At Cleveland 78, West Seattle 71

Michael Crudup, a 6-4 junior, made seven three-pointers and scored 30 points and 6-5 Hilton Horne had 26 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and five steals in the Eagles' Metro win. Onyi Okolie had 18 points and 14 rebounds for West Seattle.

At Kennedy 71, Lindbergh 65

Chris Blais hit 5 of 6 free throws in the fourth quarter and sophomore guard Marques Moorman scored 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting in the Lancers' Seamount League win.

At Mount Rainier 100, Tyee 46

Alfie Miller's 31 points led five Rams in double digits in a Seamount rout.

Newport 64, at Sammamish 52

Matt Winter got 13 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter, many on putbacks, to keep the Knights ahead in a KingCo 3A game. Ben Werth scored 16 of his 21 in the final period for the Totems.

Girls games

Kentwood 94, at Decatur 35

No. 2 Kentwood stayed unbeaten as Courtney Vandersloot got 20 of her 22 points in the first three quarters of an SPSL 4A North romp.

At Kentlake 43, Kentridge 29

Sophomore Alissa Nergaard scored 13 points and went 9 of 9 at the free-throw line to help the Falcons remain unbeaten in SPSL 4A North games.

At Emerald Ridge 65, Spanaway Lake 50

Sophomore Shannon Byrne's 29 points and Megan Block's 10 assists led the Jaguars to an SPSL 4A South win.

At Auburn Riverside 95, Franklin Pierce 32

Stephanie Wilber had a double-double (18 points, 15 rebounds) and Nichole Jackson had five steals and a school-record nine assists for the No. 2 Ravens in SPSL 3A.

At Enumclaw 62, Auburn Mountainview 46

The No. 10 Hornets finished on a 24-6 run, erasing a 13-point third-quarter deficit in SPSL 3A. Erin Rockwood scored 16 and Mara Koplitz 14 and Katya Case had 10 rebounds and five steals for Enumclaw.
