FEDERAL WAY — Terrell Smith poured in 26 points and Aaron Broussard had a big double-double as Federal Way, No. 4 in The Seattle Times' Class 4A preseason rankings, beat Mount Rainier 99-80 Friday night in a nonleague boys basketball game.
Broussard had 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Eagles and Marques Hollins added 16 points.
Junior guard Alfie Miller scored 19 and John Morine 17 for the Rams, ranked 10th in Class 3A.

Geoffrey Tundrea, the Totems' 5-4 point guard, hit five three-pointers and made 12 of 14 free throws in a 31-point performance in the KingCo 3A and season opener for both schools. Mike Darbinyan's 15 points led the Saints.

The Eagles (1-0) survived a cold first half and capitalized on Liberty turnovers to win a KingCo 3A opener. Robbie Primrose's 15 points for Issaquah led all scorers.

A 29-4 second-quarter burst secured a Metro League win for the ninth-ranked Panthers in their season opener. Jack Hanley had 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists for Seattle Prep. Onyi Okolie scored 15 for West Seattle.
