Prep Notebook | Ex-Husky named coach at Shorecrest

SHORELINE — Carly Dockendorf has been named gymnastics coach at Shorecrest High School.

She replaces Bonnie Carr, who resigned after four years as coach.

Dockendorf, 23, from New Westminster, B.C., competed for the University of Washington in gymnastics and track and field before graduating this year. She qualified for the NCAA championships as a pole vaulter, and continues to train in that event with an eye on the 2008 Olympics.

She is one of the most decorated gymnasts in UW history. She was a two-time NCAA qualifier and team captain, excelling particularly in floor exercise. She also competed for the Canadian National team.

Issaquah's girls will be joined by Winter Haven, Fla., Collins Hill of Suwanee, Ga., and St. Elizabeth of Wilmington, Del. Maya Moore, a 6-1 senior point guard from Collins Hill, was the 2005 Naismith National High School Player of the Year.
