Prep stars of the week

Cam Nobles, Jackson baseball

Nobles, a senior right-hander, picked the right time to pitch his first no-hitter of the season as top-ranked Jackson shut out Marysville-Pilchuck 3-0 in the first round of the Northwest 4A District tournament. He struck out 13 and walked five. During one stretch, Nobles retired 10 straight batters.

Kaitlyn Kennedy, Archbishop Murphy fastpitch softball

Kennedy, a senior, tossed a perfect game as the Wildcats edged Granite Falls 1-0. She struck out nine. Later in the week, she picked up a save in a 5-3 victory over Sultan as Archbishop Murphy climbed to 16-0.

Lakeside baseball team

The Lions, coached by Dana Papasedero, beat Bishop Blanchet 6-0 to clinch their first playoff berth in five years. They finished tied for third in the Metro League Mountain Division at 10-6, one game behind Blanchet.

Stars of the week are selected by The Seattle Times staff and published Tuesdays, but can be chosen only once each sports season. Nominations may be e-mailed by Sunday night to sports@seattletimes.com with name, school and accomplishments.
