Kent-Meridian ends state's longest losing streak with win

KENT — The state's longest losing streak ended Friday night on the strength of the longest possible run.

Richard Henry broke loose for a 99-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to give Kent-Meridian the lead, and the Royals went on to snap their 32-game losing streak with a 20-7 win over the Kentridge Chargers in a South Puget Sound League North Division game at French Field.

Henry finished with 180 yards and two TDs on 17 carries. He got the Royals (1-8 overall, 1-7 league) even earlier in the second quarter on a 13-yard run.

Nick Mead scored the lone TD for Kentridge (3-6, 3-5) on a 15-yard return of a blocked punt.

Highline and Davis of Yakima now share the state's longest losing streak at 28 games. Highline plays Lindbergh today.
