BOTHELL — Dan Ninomiya knew it was his time, and he wasn't going to let a little pain get in the way.
Ninomiya gained 124 yards, including 61 on a final drive that killed the clock, to help Woodinville hold on for a 17-15 win over Inglemoor in a key KingCo 4A matchup at Pop Keeney Stadium last night.
Ninomiya, limping from shin splints and having trouble talking over the chants of his nickname from a boisterous student body, said he never even considered taking a play off.
"I just had to play through the pain," Ninomiya said. "I thought we had a little more left than they did on that last drive. Luckily, the line blocked well and I just had to run hard behind them."
Woodinville took over on its 15-yard line leading by two with 3:33 left when Ninomiya and the Woodinville offensive line went to work.
The Falcons moved all the way to the Inglemoor 8 before taking a knee to improve to 4-0 in the conference.
Inglemoor (2-2) had its chances.
Garrett Miller's 24-yard touchdown run with 4:39 left in the third quarter cut Woodinville's lead to two points and the Vikings had three more chances to pull ahead.
But Woodinville's defense, which had posted shutouts in its previous two wins, rose to the occasion.
Woodinville coach Wayne Maxwell, who was inducted into the Inglemoor Hall of Fame in a ceremony at halftime, knew the game wasn't going to be easy.
"Being an old Inglemoor guy and being coached by those guys, I knew after their loss last week they would have a great week of practice and be ready for us and play hard," Maxwell said. "That's what they did."
Brent Sorensen added 61 yards on 16 carries and quarterback Jordan Greek had 50 yards on 12 carries and also threw a 13-yard TD pass to Drew Malone to open the scoring.
