Rainier Beach's Jacqua Williams and Holy Names' Devin Brooks found their strides yesterday in Metro League girls track and field meets.
Williams, the defending Class 3A state champion in the 100 meters, 200 and long jump, turned in a state-best clocking of 11.76 seconds in winning the 100 in a four-team meet. She bettered the previous state best this season, set by Meagan Ferguson of Lake Washington, by .34 of a second.
Brooks won the 100 hurdles in 14.6, topping the previous state best of Skyline's Christina Tupper (14.94). Brooks won the state 3A championship in the event as a freshman last year.
Other highlights
Bainbridge turned in the state's second-fastest girls 1,600 relay this season, as Geneva Pritchett, Hillary Pritchett, Morgan Nottingham and Alana McWhorter won in 4:07.3 in a four-team Metro League meet.
Clint Osborn of Lake Stevens put the shot 58 feet, 10 ¼ inches, the third-best reported mark in the state this season.
Tim Carrithers of Lynnwood won four events (100 meters, 200, 400, long jump) as the Royals won a three-way WesCo South boys meet.
