SEQUIM — An unhappy father of a Peninsula High School girls basketball player attacked the coach of his daughter's team after a season-ending loss last week, and police are investigating.

Peninsula, a Gig Harbor school, lost the Class 3A playoff game to Sequim 56-41. Afterward, the parent walked onto the floor and began screaming at Peninsula head coach Jerrod Fleury, then punched him, according to the Port Angeles newspaper, the Peninsula Daily News.

The newspaper said, "According to witnesses, people in the crowd were breaking the two apart when an assistant Peninsula coach stepped in and hit the parent in the face twice."

Sequim police are investigating and the Clallam County prosecutor's office will determine what charges, if any, are filed.
