10 QUIT TIPS

1. Call 800-NO-BUTTS and create a quit plan, including a quit date.

2. Create a smoke-free home and car.

3. Practice relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation.

4. Use oral substitutes such as carrot sticks, cinnamon sticks and water.

5. Take frequent walks and choose a route away from stores that sell cigarettes.

6. Find a stop-smoking aid.

7. Air out or dry clean jackets and coats that carry cigarette smoke.

8. Find something to do with your hands, like playing guitar, sewing or gardening.

9. Watch movies with no smoking scenes. Visit http://smokefreemovies.ucsf.edu for a list of smoke-free movies.

10. Tell others you plan to quit.
