IRVING, Texas — Australia's Adam Scott again topped the leaderboard at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship. His solid finish Saturday, and Kevin Sutherland's bad one, made sure that happened.
Scott, at No. 10 in the world the highest-ranked player in the field for the PGA Tour event, overcame two front-nine bogeys and shot a 3-under-par 67 Saturday in the third round to get to 8-under 202 for 54 holes. Scott birdied two of the last three holes.
Ryan Moore (68) of Puyallup was among four players tied for second place, three strokes behind Scott. Sutherland (67), Bart Bryant (67) and Charley Hoffman (68) were tied with Moore.
Of Scott, who led by one stroke after two rounds, Bryant said, "He has the potential to go out and kind of run away with it."
Sergio Garcia, after a season-best 65, was four strokes off the lead, along with Dudley Hart (66) and Jesper Parnevik (68).
Sutherland, whose lone Tour victory came six years ago, was at 7 under — with a one-stroke lead over Scott — until bogeys on the final two holes.
After missing a 7-foot par putt on the 198-yard 17th hole, Sutherland pushed his final tee shot into heavy rough — and also was in the rough after his punch shot. He finally got to the front edge of the green and two-putted from 70 feet.
"I have to remember what I did before that," Sutherland said.
Jeff Gove (70) of Seattle was tied for 19th place at 210.
Sorenstam surges to lead
AVENTURA, Fla. — Annika Sorenstam got no help from her putter. But she tops the leaderboard entering today's final round of the Stanford International Pro-Am, an LPGA Tour event.
Sorenstam, ranked No. 2 in the world behind Lorena Ochoa, shot a 1-under 70 in the third round at Turnberry Isle, ending the day with a one-stroke lead over Paula Creamer. Sorenstam made one birdie with her putter (she chipped in for another), but kept the outright lead by making a tricky, par-saving putt at the finishing hole. She was at 7-under 205.

Sorenstam, seeking her 71st Tour victory, has won five consecutive events when she has taken a one-shot lead into the final round. Overall, she is 47 for 70 when in the lead with 18 holes remaining.
Creamer — who hasn't finished higher than a tie for 21st in her previous three tournaments — had a four-birdie, no-bogey round of 67, capped by a birdie at the finishing hole.
"It was a really good day out there," said Creamer, who has been coping with a hip injury and was on crutches Tuesday.
Jimin Kang (71), a graduate of King's High School in Shoreline, was tied for 34th place at 4 over.
Wendy Ward (71), who lives near Edwall, outside Spokane, and ex-Washington Huskies player Louise Friberg (72) were among those tied for 43rd at 6 over.
Other tournaments
• No wonder Tom Watson and Andy North campaigned so hard for a return to team play in the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf, an event on the 50-and-older Champions Tour.
Watson and North combined for a better-ball 62 at The Club at Savannah Harbor for a 23-under 121 total and a four-stroke lead heading into today's final round in Savannah, Ga.
Brad Bryant and Lonnie Nielsen (60) were tied for second with Jeff Sluman and Craig Stadler (63).
• Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke shot a 5-under 67 to take a one-stroke lead after the third round of the BMW Asian Open in Shanghai, China. Clarke had a 9-under 207 total. Dutchman Robert-Jan Derksen (69) was second.
