Fremont jewelry designer accessorizes the fashionistas of "Gossip Girl"
Fremont jewelry designer Kimberly Baker accessorizes the cast of The CW's hit show "Gossip Girl."
Seattle Times columnist
Turns out TV's most fashionable Upper East Siders get accessorized by a local designer based in Fremont. Yes, all the Gossip Girls are buzzing about Kimberly Baker Jewelry, which is the brand behind Georgina's Wolfette ring, Vanessa's Dorothy necklace and Serena's signature "S" mod ring featured prominently on The CW's hit show, "Gossip Girl."
"The stylists from the show saw my work and asked me to send them pieces. It kind of went from there," Baker said. "Most recently, Georgina has been wearing the Wolfette ring ... it's a silver wolf with flowers on its head."
One of the show's stylists worked previously with famed costume designer Patricia Field on "Sex and the City." So it's no surprise he knows how to pick 'em: The same ring has been spotted on Mary Kate Olsen, and other famous fans of Baker include Scarlett Johansson, Lucy Liu and Zooey Deschanel.
But we'll let you in on the next big thing: "My favorite piece is not out yet," Baker said. "It's my Indian Chief ring — basically a large ring that's the face of Chief Joseph, and the headdress wraps around your finger." Get it in September at 206-545-1145 or www.kimberlybaker.com. ...
SPEAKING OF JEWELRY, Bellevue author Jane Porter bought herself a necklace and bracelet by a Hawaiian designer to celebrate filming of a new Lifetime movie based on her novel, "Flirting With 40." The TV flick stars Heather Locklear and "Lipstick Jungle" hunk Robert Buckley, and Porter and her boyfriend got paid to stroll the beach as extras. "Heather made a point of looking for me on the set each day and we talked about being single moms, raising kids, juggling motherhood and work," Porter said. "She seemed really normal. The only thing she didn't love was the big zoom lenses on the beach scenes when she was in a bathing suit." The movie is set to air in December. ...
WHEN TEMPERATURES SOARED to 90 degrees over the weekend, Wallingford's new kid on the block — Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream at 1622 ½ N. 45th St. — did a brisk business, serving up 250 gallons of ice cream and more than 1,000 cones. A young lady just home for the summer from Whitman College walked in with her résumé at 2 p.m. Sunday, did an interview on the sidewalk and was scooping by 5 p.m. The most popular flavor? Salted caramel. ...
CELEBRITY SIGHTINGS ROUNDUP: Actor Robin Williams at the W Hotel ... Celebrity chef Mario Batali and family dining at Elliott's Oyster House ... "The Price Is Right" host Drew Carey at Kells Irish Pub ... Fred Schneider of The B-52s asking the front desk at Club Monaco where to find a good vegan restaurant or a restaurant serving breakfast at 2 p.m. The other B-52s also stayed at the hotel, where there were goldfish in the rooms named after the band's songs: Roam, Revolution Earth and, of course, Love Shack.
