These outfits work | 3 women who dress perfectly for their jobs
Special to The Seattle Times
Work-wardrobe tips
Ask "Who is my audience today?" and "What are my tasks?" before dressing for the day. Then make sure your appearance communicates the message you want to convey and the way you want to be perceived.A collared shirt or jacket always communicates more formality. Good cut and drape, and expressive accessories, add power to the outfit.
To appear older or more sophisticated, choose classic cuts and styles. Add your unique flare through accessories, texture or color, but keep core pieces less youthful and trendy.
In a traditional environment, color and accessories are also an acceptable outlet for asserting your style.
Dress for the job you want. If you're an assistant designer, dress for the designer position.
