Recipe: Kuey Buod Chee (Fragrant Bananas in Coconut Cream)

Serves 6

6 ripe bananas

1 cup coconut milk, divided

1 ½ cups water

½ cup granulated sugar

½ teaspoon salt

Cinnamon to taste

1. Peel bananas, then make diagonal cuts to get 3 pieces from each banana.

2. Combine ¼ cup coconut milk and the water; bring to a boil. Add sugar and salt, cooking and stirring until dissolved. Add bananas and let boil 1 minute. Add the remaining coconut milk.

3. Serve bananas with plenty of liquid so that bananas will partially float. Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
