Recipe: Cherries with Amaretto Sour Cream and Almond Sugar

Serves 4

1 ½ pounds fresh cherries with stems

½ cup light sour cream

1 tablespoon Amaretto liqueur or ¾ teaspoon almond extract

½ cup sliced almonds

1/3 cup powdered sugar

1. Rinse the cherries, pat dry and place in a shallow bowl.

2. Blend the sour cream and Amaretto together and set aside.

3. In a food processor, chop the almonds almost to a powder.

(Or chop by hand with a large, sharp knife.)

4. Combine the almonds and powdered sugar. Put into a bowl.

5. Serve the cherries accompanied by the sour cream and almond sugar. Give guests individual plates and let them prepare their own, dipping cherries first into sour cream and then into almond sugar.
