The Rev. Tony Campolo, a prominent evangelical leader, is scheduled to give a public lecture at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Seattle's Town Hall.
Campolo, a left-leaning Baptist minister, is professor emeritus at Eastern University in Pennsylvania. He has served as a spiritual counselor to President Clinton, written 34 books, and founded the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education, an organization that develops schools and social programs.
Campolo's Wednesday talk, which benefits the Church Council of Greater Seattle's social-justice ministries, will focus on the role of churches in community development.
Campolo will talk about the role of volunteers in meeting community needs, ways in which churches can participate in economic development, and the responsibility of churches in nurturing young people.
Lecture tickets can be purchased in advance for $25 at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/21140. Tickets will also be available at the door for $35.
