Birdbrained fun for football fans
This Super Bowl weekend, Seattle's Seward Park Environmental & Audubon Center spotlights birds that star as mascots for sports teams.
If you have football on the brain this Super Bowl weekend and you just can't shake it, here's something that will at least get you out of the La-Z-Boy: the Birds of the Sport World Super Saturday at the Seward Park Environmental & Audubon Center.
This no-cost, all-ages activity day will address questions such as "Is the Seahawk a real bird?" Or, "Who wins when the Ravens play the Falcons?"
The focus will be on bird mascots of professional and college teams, including the Cardinals, Blue Jays, Penguins and Eagles (such as the Seward Park pair, pictured here, voicing the call of the wild in a raptor-ous duet).
Activities include arts and crafts, bird-related games and more.
• 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Seward Park Environmental & Audubon Center, 5902 Lake Washington Blvd. S., Seattle; free. More info: 206-652-2444 Ext. 111, or sewardpark.audubon.org.
