Stage and TV actor Gary Cole has left the cast of Seattle Repertory Theatre's upcoming production of the David Mamet play "Glengarry Glen Ross."
A spokesman for the Rep said Cole arrived in Seattle on Tuesday to begin rehearsals in the featured role of Ricky Roma, in the production staged by an old friend, Bellevue native Wilson Milam. On Tuesday, Cole was notified of a family emergency that led him to drop out of the show. No additional details were available.
Replacing Cole as Ricky Roma, the top dog salesman in a fiercely competitive Chicago real estate office, is R. Hamilton Wright, a frequent Rep actor initially scheduled to take another part in the show. The "Glengarry" cast also includes such prominent Seattle actors as John Aylward and Charles Leggett.
"Glengarry Glen Ross" runs Feb. 5-28 at Seattle Rep's Bagley Wright Theatre. Information: 206-443-2222 or www.seattlerep.org.
