Freeloader alert: Free Fresco Tacos at Taco Bell
Try one of Taco Bell's low-fat tacos by downloading a coupon at www.drivethrudiet.com. Eat free at Ikea through Jan. 3. Suess Chocolates hosts a chocolate "happy hour," with free samples, from 5-7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Dec. 30. Mobatta is handing out free Nutella crepes. Seattle Times Freeloader: When cheap isn't cheap enough.
Taco Bell is so anxious for you to try one of its Fresco Tacos, it will give you one free. Go to www.drivethrudiet.com and click on the taco icon for a coupon — "valid for 7 days from download or until 1 million free taco coupons are redeemed (including online and print coupons), whichever occurs first."
There's a fair amount of fine print: One per customer, subject to availability and so forth. But the detail you really need to know is that Fresco Tacos have fewer than 200 calories apiece. They're on Taco Bell's special Drive-Thru Diet menu. For a store locator, go to www.tacobell.com.
Wake up at Ikea
Shopped out? You'll still want to swing by Ikea for a free breakfast, between now and Jan. 3. You're welcome to one small breakfast and one cup of coffee, anytime before 11 a.m.
Too late for breakfast? Kids under 12 eat lunch or dinner free after 11 a.m. till closing. The fine print: "Choose any three kid-sized items to create a meal, including five meatballs, mac and cheese, PB&J Sandwich, kids yogurt, two cookies, chocolate milk and more."
If you feel rejuvenated after all that, Ikea is having a sale: 20 to 60 percent off select items throughout the store through Jan. 10.
Ikea is located in Renton at 601 S.W. 41st St.; 425-656-2980 or www.ikea.com.
Happy hour at Suess Chocolates
Be a sweetie to yourself this season and stop by Suess Chocolates' happy hour, where you can try free chocolate samples from 5-7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Dec. 30. Suess Chocolate and Pastries, 2909-B E. Madison St., Seattle; 206-661-1529.
Nuts for Nutella
Mobatta Crepes recently opened its second Seattle location and wants you to sample its wares. Go to www.mobatta.com/promotions/FreeCrepesAtMobatta.pdf, fill out the form, print it out and present it to a cashier at the Mobatta at Millennium Tower, 719 Second Ave., Seattle.
You'll be signed up for Mobatta's monthly e-mail alerts and also receive a free Nutella crepe. Mobatta's Andrew Klein says the goal is to give out 50,000 — so be sure to do your part.
