Memorial Day weekend events

Several groups will pause to mark the Memorial Day holiday with events today, Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Here's what's happening around the area.

Seattle Veterans Museum — Displays will honor local military veterans and the Remembrance Garden memorial will be open, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today, Saturday and Monday, on the west side of Benaroya Hall on Second Avenue between Union and University streets, Seattle; donations appreciated (www.seattleveteransmuseum.org).

Remember Me — Kids and adults can plant a flower container for Memorial Day at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Nursery, 3915 Sunnyside Blvd., Marysville; $15 (425-334-2002 or www.sunnysidenursery.net).

Memorial Day Panel and Program — Panel of World War II Tuskegee Airmen will discuss their experiences at the Museum of Flight at 2 p.m. Sunday. Then on Monday, the Memorial Day program — with patriotic music by the Boeing Employees Concert Band and speeches from special guests — starts at noon Monday. At the Museum of Flight, 9404 E. American Legion Memorial Day — Seattle's American Legion Cathay Post 186 will have services to honor American armed-services members who gave their lives for their country at 4 p.m. Monday, Hing Hay Park, 409 Maynard Ave. S., Seattle (425-502-9225).

Magnolia Memorial Day Services — American Legion Post 123 has Memorial Day services at 10 a.m. Monday in Magnolia Village, 32nd Avenue West and West McGraw Street, in Seattle; and at 11 a.m. at Fort Lawton Cemetery, Discovery Park, Seattle (206-909-6853).

Edmonds Memorial Day Ceremony — A service to remember those who died while in military service, with special recognition to the Seabees (all current and former Seabees invited). Attendees should bring a lawn chair. 11 a.m. Monday at Edmonds Memorial Cemetery, 820 15th St. S.W., Edmonds (425-771-4741 or www.ci.edmonds.wa.us/cemetery.stm).

Paul G. Allen's Flying Heritage Collection Memorial Day Forum — Members of the community, World War II bomber-crew members and other war veterans will pay tribute to the men and women who sacrificed their lives for their country, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday, Paine Field, 3407 109th St. S.W., Everett; $8-$10 admission to Flying Heritage Collection (free for all veterans on Monday; 206-343-1543 or www.flyingheritage.com).
