New York's top court upheld Bianca Jagger's eviction from a rent-stabilized Manhattan apartment, concluding Thursday that foreigners on tourist visas generally can't claim New York digs as a "primary residence." The human-rights activist and former wife of Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger was evicted in December from the Upper East Side apartment she rented for 20 years. She hasn't lived in the apartment for the past few years because of a dispute over asbestos and fungus contamination that led to a lawsuit against landlord Katz Park Avenue Corp. "There are still claims for legal fees and unpaid rent and use and occupancy," said attorney Magda Cruz, the landlord's lawyer. Jagger was renting the 18th-floor Park Avenue space for $4,614 a month when a judge imposed a fine in 2006 and ordered her to pay months of back rent. Because she holds a B2 visa, Jagger is required to have a "principal, actual dwelling place" outside the United States. A native of Nicaragua and now a British citizen, she keeps an apartment in London.

Critters

Tall, dark — and lonely

India's only gorilla needs a gal. Polo, 36, is 6 feet tall, dark-haired, bilingual and good-natured, but the silverback gorilla is still single after a fruitless eight-year search after the death of his mate, Sumathi, 46. "We have written to all major zoos in the world. We have tried everything," said Vijay Ranjan Singh, the director of the zoo in Mysore, in southern India about 525 miles southeast of Bombay.

Games

Anand maintains lead

Careful defense brought Russian challenger Vladimir Kramnik a draw against world chess champion Viswanathan Anand of India on Thursday in the seventh game of their championship match. The draw means that Anand leads 5-2, maintaining his three-point advantage in the 12-game match in Bonn, Germany. Kramnik will have the white pieces in game eight today.

Bad taste

Hitler's favorite dish

A Belgian culinary show on Adolf Hitler's favorite meal to be aired next week has come under fire from Jewish, resistance and political-prisoner organizations. In his series "Plat Préféré," or "Favorite Dish," professional cook Jeroen Meus goes to Hitler's haunts in southern Germany to prepare trout with butter sauce, the program's trailer announced. The VRT network will air the show Oct. 28 and said it will put Hitler "in the right context."
