Tow trucks on parade: 292 tow trucks rumbled through New York City on Saturday in an attempt to smash the world record for the largest parade of its kind. The trucks started at Shea Stadium and cruised down a couple of highways before finishing at an abandoned airport tarmac to spell out "New York." Guinness World Record officials were on hand. The previous record, 83 tow trucks, was set in 2004 in Wenatchee.

Hurley raising pigs
Actress and model Elizabeth Hurley has made a career move: She breeds pigs. In England's Cotswolds region, she is using her 100-acre estate to breed Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs. The Hurley Old Spot pigs are quickly making a name, and one butcher-shop manager, Perry Meredith, told the Gloucestershire Echo that "her pigs are excellent quality."
Good reviews for Holmes
Despite the 24 or so anti-Scientology demonstrators rallying outside the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in New York on Thursday night, Katie Holmes' performance on opening night of Arthur Miller's "All My Sons" generally was reviewed as flawless. "Holmes exuded the same lovable charm she did as Joey Potter on TV's 'Dawson's Creek,' " according to the New York Daily News. Husband Tom Cruise was on hand to greet patrons and had no trouble ignoring the anti-Scientology, which accused his religion of brainwashing Holmes.
