Greenwood's Taproot Theatre has chosen its 2009 season, which starts in January, with the Seattle premiere of the award-winning Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder drama "Gee's Bend," a drama about the lives of African-American quilters in Alabama.
Also part of the season: "Tuesdays with Morrie," a play by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom, based on Albom's memoir of a dying mentor; the local debut of a new adaptation of Jules Verne's "Around the World in 80 Days" by Mark Brown; "Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming;" the regional premiere of a musical sequel to a popular bluegrass musical; and "Enchanted April," Matthew Barber's romantic comedy about British women having a life-changing holiday in Italy.
Subscriptions to Taproot's 2009 season now are available to current subscribers and go on sale to the general public Oct. 1. Information: www.taproottheatre.org or 206-781-9707.
