Hulk's son gets jail time

Celebrity gossip, famous birthdays and other tidbits, compiled from Seattle Times news services.

A judge in Clearwater, Fla., on Friday sentenced Nick Bollea, 17, the son of wrestler Hulk Hogan, to eight months in jail for reckless driving. Bollea was led off to begin his sentence immediately; he also will be on five years' probation and lose his driving privileges for three years.

DMX arrested in raid

Authorities say rapper DMX, real name Earl Simmons, has been arrested on drug and animal-cruelty charges in Phoenix after a raid early Friday on the rapper's house. The Maricopa County sheriff's office says DMX, 37, tried to barricade himself in his bedroom but came out as a SWAT team entered the home. The indictment stems from an August search of the rapper's home prompted by reports of dogs being abused on his property.

Child-porn trial starts

Jury selection began in Chicago on Friday in R&B singer R. Kelly's long-delayed child-pornography trial. Kelly, 41, is accused of having sex with a girl as young as 13 on videotape. He pleaded not guilty and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Mom's working on No. 18

It will be another busy Mother's Day for Michelle Duggar, of Tontitown, in northwest Arkansas, who is pregnant with her 18th child. Duggar, 41, is due on New Year's Day, and the latest addition will join seven sisters and 10 brothers. There are two sets of twins. The Duggars' oldest child, Josh, is 20, and the youngest, Jennifer, is 9 months. Michelle, her husband, Jim Bob, and children have been the subject of one series for Discovery Health and another is being filmed.
