Bring wands, lightning bolts and maybe a few tears to celebrate the release of the seventh and final book in the "Harry Potter" series. Local libraries will kick off with events through next week, culminating with bashes Friday night. The book will be sold starting at 12:01 a.m. next Saturday.
Events are free unless noted otherwise.

1-3 p.m. today, Newport Way Library, 14250 S.E. Newport Way, Bellevue. Play games and make potions. Ages 5-12. Registration required.
6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St., Marysville. "Unfogging the Future: Celebrating 10 Years of Harry Potter" will review the earlier books, including a look at popular theories and clues about what will happen next. At 10 p.m. Friday, enjoy food, prizes, costume contest, trivia and games. Preorder a book from BookWorks to pick up a copy at 12:01 a.m.
5 p.m. Thursday, Redmond Regional Library, 15990 N.E. 85th, Redmond. A rock band, The Parselmouths, will play before the library shows "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" at 6 p.m.
6 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 p.m. Friday, Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood. Movies and treats Thursday, then a Friday-night countdown with costume and trivia contests.

While fans wait for the stroke of midnight, they can enjoy parties at local community events and bookstores earlier in the evening. Unless otherwise noted, these events are on Friday. Costumes welcome.
