Big-name acts added to Bumbershoot roster

Fergie, John Legend, and the rock band +44 top a list of artists newly added to the 2007 Bumbershoot roster. Which goes to show that while the 37-year-old music and arts festival keeps getting older, the lineup skews ever younger.

Also newly booked for the Sept. 1-3 festival are Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Tokyo Police Club, an appearance by filmmaker John Sayles ("Passion Fish," "Matewan"), political humorist Andy Borowitz and the Austin-based theater collective Rude Mechanicals.

They join previously announced headliners the Shins, Wu-Tang Clan, Panic! at the Disco, Joss Stone and Kings of Leon.

For the first time, single-day tickets to Bumbershoot will be date-specific (that is, festivalgoers can no longer buy a one-day pass good for any day they please, but must choose Saturday, Sunday or Monday). And this Thursday is the deadline for the deepest discounts (see box for details).

Visual Arts

Multimedia artists Miranda July and Harrell Fletcher's public art project, "Learning to Love You More"; The Seattle-Havana Poster Show; Nick Drake Words and Music; graffiti art project "Claimin' Space"; and a satellite Henry Art Gallery exhibition, among other events.

Film

The 1 Reel Film Festival will include films by Miranda July; the green-focused films of Planet Cinema; and "Picture & Sound: Music Videos." Film director John Sayles will show clips from his upcoming movie "Honeydripper."

Performance

Dance: Taylor Mac, Decadancetheatre, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and a dance sampler from On the Boards.

Theater: Rude Mechanicals, Balagan Theatre, Wing-It, Jerk Alert, a theater showcase curated by Theatre Puget Sound and more. Ellen Forney presents a multimedia revue based on comics from the book "I Love Led Zeppelin."

Spectacle: Vau de Vire Society circus; Can Can Carnival; Cyclecide Bike Rodeo; and Peddling Art, "a working art piece that combines pedal-power, a sewing machine, a printing press and festival patrons."
