Andrea Martin joins "Frankenstein" cast

Add Andrea Martin, another seasoned comedy pro, to the star-studded cast of the new Mel Brooks musical, "Young Frankenstein."

Tony Award-winner Martin, a regular on television's late, lamented and hilarious sketch-comedy series, "SCTV," and a star of the recent Broadway revival of "Fiddler on the Roof," has signed on to play the scary housekeeper Frau Blucher (a role originated on film by Cloris Leachman) in "Young Frankenstein." The show has its world premiere at Seattle's Paramount Theatre Aug. 7-Sept. 1, and is slated to open on Broadway in late fall.

Along with Martin (who earned her Tony for her performance in Broadway's "My Favorite Year"), the Paramount offering will feature Megan Mullally (formerly of TV's "Will & Grace"), and Tony Award honorees Roger Bart, Sutton Foster and Shuler Hensley. More information and tickets: 206-292-ARTS.

Judy Collins to sing with Men's Chorus

The Seattle Men's Chorus has announced the soloist for their opening holiday concert in December: Judy Collins. The pop/folk legend will join the chorus and conductor Dennis Coleman for five "Home for the Holidays" concerts, set for Dec. 2, 9, 21 and 22 (with matinee and evening shows on the final date), at Benaroya Hall.

Seattle Men's Chorus also will have travel guru Rick Steves as narrator for "A Foreign Affaire," a musical video tour of Europe, March 29-30, 2008; and comic actor Leslie Jordan ("Will & Grace," "Sordid Lives") as headliner next June (details at www.flyinghouse.org).

Symphony's bass player wins award

Jordan Anderson, principal of the Seattle Symphony's bass section, recently won the solo division in the composition competition sponsored by the International Society of Bassists.

Anderson's work is called "Drafts"; he performed it earlier this month at the ISB convention in Oklahoma City.
