Contemporary works by Northwest authors and Brit-lit classics are on the schedule for the 2007-08 season of Book-It Repertory Theatre.
The roving company will start off with "Snow Falling on Cedars," based on the 1995 Pen/Faulkner Award-winning novel about love, racial prejudice and World War II, by local author David Guterson. It plays Sept. 20-Oct. 14.
Next up: a new stage version of the much-dramatized tale of the boy who wouldn't grow up, "Peter Pan" by J.M. Barrie. (Nov. 29-Dec. 23)
"Persuasion," a fresh adaptation of the Jane Austen novel follows. Book-It had great success earlier with another Austen tale, "Pride and Prejudice." (Feb. 7-March 2, 2008)
"The Highest Tide" by local author Jim Lynch is also in the wings. This Pacific Northwest Booksellers award honoree is a coming-of-age story set in Olympia and its environs. (April 17-May 10, 2008)
All shows will be presented at the Center House Theatre in the Seattle Center. Information: 206-216-0833 or www.book-it.org.
