"American Idol" airs at 8 tonight on KCPQ-TV.

What's on tonight: The show reverts to its plainer and better self; the "Idol Gives Back" benefit show is now a thing of the past.

What to look for: Snark from Simon. Gushing from Paula. The contestants rock out in a "Blaze of Glory" because it's Jon Bon Jovi theme night. Fierce.

What's next: Another Ford music video! (I kid). Two of the six — LaKisha, Chris, Phil? — get the ax during the results show, 9 p.m. Wednesday.
