Vegas resident Jacko ponders show offers
Compiled from Seattle Times staff and news services.
LOS ANGELES — Michael Jackson is "reviewing and evaluating" proposals for his future, including offers to perform in Las Vegas, his spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Raymone K. Bain also confirmed in a news release that Jackson is living in Las Vegas.
The release was issued to counteract a number of rumors, Bain said, including one that Jackson would soon appear on "American Idol."
"Mr. Jackson has no current plans to appear or perform on 'American Idol,' " she said.
Paris Hilton in more driving trouble
WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Paris Hilton was cited for driving on a suspended license after police stopped her for speeding and driving without her headlights on late Tuesday, authorities said.
The hotel heiress was pulled over on Sunset Boulevard in her blue Bentley Continental GTC at 11 p.m., said Sgt. Duane Allen Jr. of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. She was alone and there was no sign of drinking or drugs, Allen said.
Naked Radcliffe gets raves for "Equus"
LONDON — A play about a stablehand who mutilates horses was never going appeal to all, but "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe's assured performance in Peter Shaffer's "Equus" pleased London critics.
Some theater writers expressed reservations about Peter Shaffer's play, first staged in London's West End in 1973, but almost all were impressed by the boy wizard's breakout performance.
Charles Spencer, writing in The Daily Telegraph, said Radcliffe "brilliantly succeeds in throwing off the mantle of Harry Potter, announcing himself as a thrilling stage actor of unexpected range and depth."

The sentiment was echoed by Michael Billington, who wrote in The Guardian that "Equus" showed Radcliffe was "no flash in the magic pan."
"Forget all the prurient press speculation about Harry Potter's private parts," he said, referring to a scene at the end where Radcliffe is nude. "The revelation in this revival is that Daniel Radcliffe really can act."
Posh and Becks will do reality show
LOS ANGELES — When Victoria Beckham moves to town, the momentous event will be recorded for television by the creator of "American Idol."
NBC has signed a deal for six episodes of a half-hour unscripted series chronicling the former Posh Spice's relocation from Europe with her soccer-star husband, David, who has signed to play with the Galaxy team here, Daily Variety said Wednesday.
The series, which may air this summer, will be produced by Simon Fuller, the "American Idol" magnate.
Kiriyama Prize finalists announced
NEW YORK — Kiran Desai's "The Inheritance of Loss," winner last fall of the Man Booker Prize, was among the finalists announced Tuesday for the 11th annual Kiriyama Prize for works "that promote greater understanding of and among the nations of the Pacific Rim and of South Asia."
Winners will be announced March 27.
Besides "The Inheritance of Loss," fiction finalists included Haruki Murakami's "Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman," Ma Jian's "Stick Out Your Tongue," Madeleine Thien's "Certainty" and Lois-Ann Yamanaka's "Behold the Many."
The nonfiction nominees were Abigail Friedman's "The Haiku Apprentice," Ernest Hayes' "Blonde Indian," Greg Mortenson's and David Oliver Relin's "Three Cups of Tea," Ruth Padel's "Tigers in Red Weather" and John Pomfret's "Chinese Lessons."
ALSO: Naomi Watts and her boyfriend, Liev Schreiber, are expecting.
News of the 38-year-old actress' pregnancy was released Sunday by fashion-design firm Escada, which created the yellow gown Watts wore to the Academy Awards.
Schreiber, 39, confirmed the news on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" Monday, saying, "Yes, I'm going to be a dad."
