TV Addict

Anchors: Movers, shakers and ... pinups?

Seattle Times staff reporter

Former Q13 anchor Leslie Miller won the News Anchor category at the Northwest Regional Emmy Awards last month, but I was more interested in the trophy she didn't take home this year: the prestigious top honors in the "Local TV Newscaster You'd Like to See Naked Poll" from Star 101.5 FM.

Insiders — and by "insiders," I mean "publicists" — tell me that Miller won a whopping 51 percent of the total female vote in the previous two years. In an e-mail from her new home in Los Angeles, Miller offered her congrats to her successor, KOMO morning anchor Denise Whitaker: "Have you seen the body on Jean Enersen? She looks great!" I'm just kidding. Leslie did say that, but first she said, "My advice to [Whitaker] is to display the trophy proudly! It's a fun award." KING's Enersen took second place.

TV Addict Goes to Hollywood

Coming Thursday: TV Addict Pamela Sitt will send daily dispatches from the television critics' press tour beginning Thursday. Check back daily for updates on new shows, celeb gossip and more at seattletimes.com/television.

Whitaker is taking her share of good-natured ribbing from her colleagues at KOMO but tells me she's "showing a little leg" in her spots to promote her Climb to Fight Breast Cancer, which begins Friday.

Congratulations are also in order for Q13 news anchor Kerri Kazarba, who gave birth to a baby boy June 17. His name is Kade. Love it. He joins big sister Karly, 2. I see a pattern here. Kazarba is on maternity leave until September.

Meantime, KING sports anchor Michael King is on the move, but he's not going far. King joins "Evening Magazine" as a reporter/producer within the next month or so. "There's no better place than 'Evening' to tell stories," King said. "I will miss my seat in the press box, but now I get to ride on the Evening Magazine plane!"

Look for new face Paul Chambers at KING; he's been hired as a reporter. Paul was previously a reporter for Tech TV in Washington, D.C.

Behind the scenes at KING, Ray Heacox has been named general manager, succeeding Dave Lougee. Lougee was promoted to senior vice president of Belo in January. Heacox, a Tacoma native, currently lives in Philadelphia and starts at KING Aug. 15.

For the Auburn reader who was wondering what happened to the KIRO-produced 10 p.m. newscast on KSTW, both stations agreed it wasn't a good fit with the younger-skewing UPN affiliate, said Ryan Craig, KSTW's director of programming and research. KSTW (channel 11) now airs "Seinfeld" in the 10 p.m. slot because "it's only the best show ever made in the history of mankind." Hey, you can't argue with that logic.

Moving on ... the Gig Harbor mom who won a Peabody Award for her DVD of nursery rhymes set to tap, dance and hip-hop music ("Nursery Tap, Hip to Toe," www.nurserytap.com) will shoot a second DVD next month. "I'm adding more international stuff — French rhymes, Chinese rhymes, Cambodian rhymes," said creator Juleen Murray Shaw. "I'm trying to not only expose children to performing arts, but also to rhythms of the world."

Finally, expect local news roundups like this one in TV Addict occasionally, so if you have questions, gossip or sightings regarding TV peeps, send them my way (psitt@seattletimes.com).

On to primetime!

"Dancing with the Stars"

Conspiracy theories aside, the only thing that could've made J. Peterman's freestyle dance any better was if he had incorporated some of Elaine's Little Kicks. I knew they should have practiced those lifts in the water. Hello, didn't you see "Dirty Dancing"?

"Beauty and the Geek"

Chuck and Caitilin won, even though Caitilin thought Chuck was from Sioux Falls, Iowa. First of all, I'm pretty sure Sioux Falls is in one of the Dakotas, and secondly, Chuck is from Atlanta. Anyway, I'll be tuning into "Beauty and the Geek: The Aftermath" tomorrow, if only to see if Richard has kissed any more girls yet. (8 p.m., KTWB)

"The Surreal Life 5"

"I am so excited there is someone on this show who is a bigger drama queen than me." Pop quiz: Who said this? A) Omarosa B) Janice Dickinson C) Jose Canseco D) Lucky, the three-legged dog. Caprice: "We need another loo." Uh, you do know you're from California, right? (9 p.m. Sundays, VH1)

"Being Bobby Brown"

This week's cameos: Prince Jeffrey of Brunei ("I crashed [my Ferrari]"), the Dalai Lama ("Mr. Lama? Mr. Lama?"), Mohamed Al Fayed ("Double-action Egyptian Viagra!"). Seriously, you can't make this stuff up. (10 p.m. Thursdays, Bravo)

"Kept"

Listen, girls, if everyone else took their tops off in the Jacuzzi, would you do it, too? Why, bloody yes I would. Note to Anwar: "You're all beautiful for your age" is not a compliment. Duh. (Returns to 9 p.m. Thursdays next week on VH1.)

"Blow Out"

Kevin: "It's just that Ritz crackers and Rice Krispies treats aren't my idea of dinner." Um, then don't be coming over to my house. Scott: "I want to say it's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of, but I've heard of stupider things." Like watching two grown men fight over hair products? Jonathan. Dude. Quit crying. (9 p.m. Tuesdays, Bravo)

"Rock Star: INXS"

I like Bo Bice, but every person on this show is so much better than Bo Bice, it's not even funny. And Dave Navarro is way more interesting as a rock star than as Carmen Electra's husband. Early favorites: Neal and Jordis. (9:30 p.m. Mondays, 10 p.m. Tuesdays and 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, KIRO.)

"Hooking Up"

Amazingly, people are still using Match.com, even after they hired that Bachelor dude as its spokesperson. This immediately addictive five-part documentary series — executive produced by someone named, not kidding, Mr. [Terence] Wrong — follows a bunch of New York singles as they navigate the online dating scene. "My name isn't Jennifer, it's Lisa." Why'dja have to go and make things so complicated? (9 p.m. Thursdays, KOMO)
