Winterfest, Seattle Center's nonstop whirlwind of holiday events through Jan. 2, kicks off Nov. 26 with the opening of the Holiday Ice Rink and the three-day Winter Worldfest: hundreds of costumed musicians and dancers from around the world.
New Winterfest events this year include: World DessertFest chef demonstrations of holiday treats from African-American, Filipino, Middle Eastern and English cultures, Sundays in December; and fairies flying in the heights of the Center House at Sugar Snow: An Aerial Performance with Circus Contraption, Dec. 29 and 30, both free.
Popular fest events include Winter Solstice Celebration by the International Fountain Dec. 18-19 and celebration of the African-American holiday of Kwanzaa Dec. 26.
