Morning news anchor Margo Myers resigned from KOMO-TV this week and will join KIRO-TV's news operation as anchor/reporter early next year.

In a memo sent to KIRO employees Wednesday, general manager John Woodin announced Myers had left KOMO to work on special projects and will anchor the weekday 10 p.m. newscast on KIRO's partner station, KSTW, "in addition to other duties." That newscast, which is produced by KIRO, was revived in June and is currently anchored by Kristy Lee and Steve Raible.

Myers must first sit out a six-month non-compete clause before jumping stations within the same market. Myers, 43, started her Seattle career at KOMO in 1993. She worked as a weekend anchor/reporter before moving to mornings in 1998.

Mike Dardis, Myers' former co-anchor, will continue to anchor KOMO's morning newscast. The station has not yet announced plans for Myers' replacement.
