Sunday, September 19, 2004 - Page updated at 12:00 A.M. A Note on Political Films
While most of the season's bumper crop of political plays and movies such as the documentary films "Fahrenheit 9/11," "Uncovered: The War in Iraq" and "Bush's Brain") bash President George W. Bush's regime, others are on the way which defend the president and take on his critics. These new releases include Michael Wilson's "Michael Moore Hates America" and "George W. Bush: Faith in the White House," as well as "Buried in the Sand: The Deception of America" and "Confronting Iraq." The new documentaries are still outnumbered, however, by more anti-Bush flicks, including such fictional features with thinly veiled political critiques as John Sayles' new "Silver City" and the Jonathan Demme remake of "The Manchurian Candidate."
