The superintendent of an embattled public school system in northeastern North Carolina says she hopes an improvement plan will be enough to satisfy a judge who believes the state should take over the district's operations.
The superintendent of an embattled public school system in northeastern North Carolina says she hopes an improvement plan will be enough to satisfy a judge who believes the state should take over the district's operations.
Halifax County schools Superintendent Geraldine Middleton says she hopes measures being implemented with the help of the state Department of Public Instruction will bring the district into compliance. Middleton was hired as the school superintendent in July 2007.
Among the changes she cited Wednesday are new employees in several key jobs and a program aimed at improving math scores.
