Bellevue
Members of the champion Seattle Sounders soccer team will be on hand Saturday to celebrate the opening of two artificial-turf fields at Robinswood Sports Park in Bellevue.
The public celebration will run from 10 a.m. to noon at the park, 2430 148th Ave. S.E., with a ribbon-cutting, scrimmages by soccer and lacrosse teams and a clinic by the Sounder players. The Sounders won the United Soccer Leagues First Division title last weekend.
The $2.4 million renovation converted two soccer fields into turf and also created a warm-up area. The new fields can be used more often than grass fields, which get damaged by rain and mud.
