King County has closed part of the Preston-Snoqualmie Trail to allow work to be done on the Preston ballfields site.
The closure is between Southeast 84th Street and Southeast 87th Place.
A detour is being built around the construction site, which is where King County, the Preston Community Club, Eastside Football Club and the Issaquah Little League are developing a new park.
The park will have two synthetic-surfaced soccer fields, a natural-grass soccer field, a youth baseball field, and other features.
The trail is part of the county's 175-mile regional trail system, with the 5 ½-mile section running from Preston to Snoqualmie Ridge. Information is available from the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks.
Lake Washington schools seek views about Web site
Lake Washington School District is offering a sneak peek and looking for feedback on its redesigned Web site.
The district has been working for more than a year on the new Web site, which it hopes to launch by the time school starts Sept. 4. The new Web site was designed with input from parents, teachers, students and community members and is intended to provide useful information that is easy to find. To see the Web site, which is still under construction, go to www3.lwsd.org. Feedback on the new site may be e-mailed to webmaster@lwsd.org.
