Wednesday, August 30, 2006 - Page updated at 01:35 PM Two injured in truck accident off Highway 520 in Redmond
Two people were injured, including one who was airlifted to Harborview Medical center, about 10 a.m. today when a semi-trailer truck apparently lost its brakes and drove out of control down an eastbound off ramp from Highway 520 in Redmond. The truck crossed West Lake Sammamish Parkway near Marymoor Park, knocking over road signs as it went off the road, and then careened over about a 30-foot-embankment before coming to rest upside down in the Sammamish Slough, the Redmond Police Department reported. Rescue personnel had to use mountain-climbing gear and ladders to get close to the truck. West Lake Sammamish Parkway was closed as Redmond police and firefighters and the Washington State Patrol responded to the scene and began making arrangements to remove the truck. The names and conditions of the victims were not immediately available. Copyright © 2006 The Seattle Times Company
