A 9-year-old Seattle boy nearly drowned Wednesday night while snorkeling, but was rescued by his father.

The boy was swimming offshore at Luther Burbank Park around 7:30 p.m. when his father, who was swimming nearby, noticed the boy was face down in the water, unconscious, police said. The father called 911, and by the time paramedics arrived, the boy was breathing on his own.

The unidentified boy was taken in good condition to Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center in Seattle.

Parking lot meth sting yields 2 arrests

Police arrested a 24-year-old man and 14-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon after setting up a methamphetamine "sting" in a McDonald's parking lot.

The two suspects, both from Issaquah, were arrested on suspicion of delivering drugs. The 24-year-old was booked into King County Jail, and the 14-year-old was held briefly and then released to his parents, Issaquah police Cmdr. Stan Conrad said.

A detective posed as the buyer in the deal, which occurred in the 4100 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast.
