Player of the game

UCLA quarterback Kevin Prince threw for 314 yards and ran for 76 in the Bruins' 43-7 victory. Prince, who led the Bruins to a 26-0 halftime lead, completed 27 of 40 passes. Prince threw a 27-yard touchdown pass on the Bruins' first offensive play and ran 68 yards for another score early in the second quarter.

Play of the game

The Cougars' third offensive play set the tone for the game. Marshall Lobbestael's pass was intercepted by the Bruins' Akeem Ayers, his first of two picks. On the next play, Prince connected with Taylor Embree for a touchdown.

Turning point

It's hard to find something you'd call a turning point in this one, but the Cougars put themselves in a pretty deep hole by having three passes intercepted before the game was six minutes old.

WSU player

of the game

When the Cougars managed to hang on to the ball until fourth down, punter Reid Forrest was effective, averaging 50.3 yards on six kicks.

Offensive futility

The Cougars' first three drives ended in interceptions thrown by Lobbestael. Each of the next four drives went three-and-out, with one of the punts blocked for a safety that gave the Bruins a 23-0 lead. On the Cougars' eighth drive, their final possession of the first half, they fumbled the ball away, setting up a UCLA field goal that made it 26-0. The fumble came on the Cougars' biggest play of the first half, a 36-yard run by quarterback Kevin Lopina, who came into the game in relief of Lobbestael.

UCLA fullback Chane Moline carried the ball three times. And scored three touchdowns, from 16, 7 and 2 yards. Moline came into the game with five carries for 14 yards all season. He also caught seven passes for 60 yards, after entering the game with 98 yards receiving.

WSU highlight

The Cougars' only score came late in the third quarter, on a 46-yard pass play from Lopina to Jeffrey Solomon.

Lopina was 7 of 14 for 102 yards, and did not throw an interception.

By the numbers

4 Turnovers by the Cougars in the first half. Lobbestael threw interceptions on each of the Cougars' first three possessions. Lopina fumbled the ball away late in the half.

28 First downs for the Bruins. Washington State had seven.

556 Yards of offense for Bruins. Washington State managed just 181.
