Cougars two-minute drill
Player of the game: Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin, who rushed for 217 yards and threw for 129. Griffin set a school rushing record and became the first quarterback since Cody Carlson in 1986 to rush for more than 100 yards in a game for the Bears.
Play of the game: Griffin faked into the middle and swept left for a 58-yard touchdown on Baylor's first play of the second half. The scoring run gave Baylor a comfortable 35-14 lead with 8:47 remaining in the third quarter.
WSU highlight: Christopher Ivory took the opening kickoff 50 yards to the Baylor 44. The play led to a Washington State touchdown drive capped by Chantz Staden's 1-yard plunge.
WSU lowlight: Center snap caught quarterback Kevin Lopina unaware on second-and-nine at the Cougars' 28 midway through the first quarter. Joe Pawelek recovered for Baylor, and Griffin connected with Ernest Smith for a 28-yard touchdown pass, giving the Bears a 14-7 lead.
Injuries: Lopina left the game late in the third quarter with an injured wrist. X-rays proved negative, but Gary Rogers took over at quarterback.
He said it: Washington State coach Paul Wulff: "We had a simple game plan on defense, but we weren't making the right calls up front and making the right adjustments. We worked on it all week."
Next: Portland State, at Pullman's Martin Stadium, 4 p.m. Saturday (FSN).
