PULLMAN — Washington State defensive tackle A'i Ahmu turned himself in to the WSU Police Department on Wednesday.

A warrant for Ahmu's arrest had been issued because he failed to appear for a court date to answer a minor-in-possession charge, according to WSU Police Sgt. Mike Larsen.

Ahmu was released around 5 p.m. from the Whitman County Jail, and was not at the Cougars' practice on Wednesday.

WSU coach Paul Wulff said Ahmu's status for the game Saturday against California would be clear once the team received more information.

"Whenever a kid is arrested, he'll be suspended until we gather the facts," Wulff said. "I don't really know the facts of the situation right now."

Ahmu, a senior, has started 23 games for WSU since 2005.
