Preview | Washington St. (4-6, 2-5) vs. Oregon St (6-4, 4-3)

At stake: The Cougars need to win and then beat the Huskies to become bowl eligible with six victories. The Beavers need to win to guarantee a bowl appearance with seven triumphs.

What to expect: The Cougars will go deep early because two OSU defensive backs who started against Washington, cornerback Brandon Hughes and safety Bryan Payton, as well as reserve defensive back James Dockery, can't play in the first half because they were ejected in the second half against the Huskies. OSU will put a heavy pass rush on Alex Brink; the Beavers lead Pac-10 with 39 sacks.

Notes: The Cougars lead the series 47-41-3. Oregon State is the only Pac-10 team the Cougars lead in a series. The Cougars have won nine of the past 10 in Pullman. ... OSU hasn't played in Pullman since 2003. ... The Cougars won 13-6 in Corvallis last year, and Brink threw for 270 yards. The game was the first time the Cougars had held a team without a touchdown since 2003. ... WSU kicker Romeen Abdollmohammadi was 4 for 4 last week on field goals and is on a 7-for-7 streak. ... OSU kicker Alexis Serna needs five more points to become OSU's career scoring leader. He has scored 362 points. ... WSU RB Chris Ivory, who gained 104 yards last week in his first game after suffering a concussion Oct. 6, is expected to start.

Injuries: Oregon State — Starting QB Sean Canfield (shoulder) and starting WR Sammie Stroughter (kidney) both out; starting DE Dorian Smith (knee) doubtful; starting OG Jeremy Perry (leg) probable. WSU — Starting TE Jed Collins (ankle), backup DE Kevin Kooyman (ankle) and backup DE Mike Graise (ankle), all probable.

Prediction: Cougs win a close one. WSU 27, Oregon State 24.
