Preview | WSU (3-6) vs. Stanford (3-6)

WSU stat leaders Passing PC PA Yds TD Alex Brink 225 371 2,656 20 Rushing TCB Yds Avg TD Dwight Tardy 143 676 4. 7 6 Kevin McCall 49 209...

At stake: The loser will be eliminated from bowl consideration.

What to expect: WSU will continue with the 3-4 alignment that has put increased pressure on quarterbacks with blitzing linebackers. With WSU's No. 1 rusher, Dwight Tardy (knee injury), out for the season, the Cougars will emphasize their air attack. Stanford does a lot of shifting on offense and tries to confuse opponents. On defense, the Cardinal will take chances and blitz.

Notes: Stanford leads the series, 32-24-1. Cougars beat the Cardinal 36-10 last year in Palo Alto and limited Cardinal to 195 yards offense. Cougars had eight sacks, five by Mkristo Bruce. ... Cougars have lost only three fumbles this season. ... One of the Cougars out to sack QB Tavita Pritchard today will be his former Clover Park High School teammate, Ropati Pitoitua. Pritchard threw for 5,323 yards and 55 touchdowns at Clover Park. ... WSU's Brandon Gibson leads Pac-10 in receiving yards per game with 94.4 average. ... Stanford sophomore Clinton Snyder is the only Pac-10 player ranking in top 10 in sacks, tackles for loss, forced fumbles and tackles.

Injuries: WSU — DE Kevin Kooyman (high ankle sprain) out; DE Mike Graise (ankle) doubtful; RB Kevin McCall (leg) questionable; WR Charles Dillon (knee) and RB Kevin McCall (leg) probable.

Stanford — DT Ekom Udofia (ankle), RB Toby Gerhart (knee), TE Jim Dray (knee), LT Allen Smith (knee), out; RB Anthony Kimble (knee) questionable; WR Mark Bradford (knee, quad), LB Pat Maynor (pinched nerve) probable.

Prediction: Cougars need this one and will get it. WSU 35, Stanford 14.
