WSU RB Tardy out for season with torn ACL
The Cougars have lost their best running back for the rest of the season.
Seattle Times staff reporter
The Cougars have lost their best running back for the rest of the season.
WSU announced today that Dwight Tardy, who ran for 214 yards and two touchdowns in the 27-7 win over UCLA last Saturday, has a torn anterior cruciate knee ligament.
Tardy suffered the injury on his 51-yard touchdown run in the final minute of the game. He didn't practice Tuesday or Wednesday and an MRI confirmed the injury Wednesday.
The Cougars' No. 2 running back, Chris Ivory, has been out for weeks with a concussion.
Senior Kevin McCall is expected to start with Marcus Richmond as the backup.
The Cougars (3-5, 1-4) play at California (5-3, 2-3) Saturday night in Berkeley.
