Washington State's Brandon Gibson, the leading receiver in the Pac-10, has been downgraded to "doubtful" for Saturday's game at Oregon.
"I don't think we'll have Gibson this week," WSU coach Bill Doba said Tuesday.
Gibson has caught 39 passes for 567 yards and six touchdowns. He suffered a heel injury in last Saturday's 23-20 home loss to Arizona State.
Doba said receiver Charles Dillon (shoulder) remains questionable for the game. Dillon practiced on a limited basis Tuesday, as did starting strong safety Alfonso Jackson, who had suffered a concussion in the Sept. 30 loss at Arizona and missed last week's game against Arizona State.
Starting linebacker Kendrick Dunn (leg) was a full participant in the practice after missing the Arizona State game.
Doba: Dixon is MVP
Asked to name a midseason most valuable player in the Pac-10, Doba named Ducks quarterback Dennis Dixon.
Dixon is averaging 309.2 yards total offense, with an average of 249 of that passing yardage.
Dixon was the last starting Pac-10 QB to throw an interception this season when he tossed one against California Sept. 30, breaking a streak of 135 passes without a pick. He leads the league in passing efficiency (168.9) and has thrown 12 touchdown passes and been intercepted only twice.
Notes
• Saturday's game won't be televised, and kickoff will be at 12:30 p.m.
• The Ducks (4-1, 1-1) are favored by 18 points over the Cougars (2-4, 0-3).
• Reserve defensive tackle Matt Eichelberger (knee) returned to practice Tuesday after missing two games. He played well in last year's 34-23 Cougars upset over the Ducks in Pullman.
