WSU Football Notes: SI.com gives Harrison first-team nod

Washington State running back Jerome Harrison has been named a first-team All-American by SI.com.

Harrison leads the nation with 1,900 yards rushing and gained at least 100 yards in every game for the 4-7 Cougars and had four games with more than 200 yards.

Harrison, a Pac-10 first-team selection, is one of three finalists for the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation's top running back. He is expected to finish in the top 10 in Heisman Trophy voting.

Other Pac-10 players on the SI.com first team are fellow running back Reggie Bush, wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett, offensive lineman Taitusi Lutai, all of USC; defensive lineman Haloti Ngata of Oregon and punt returner Maurice Drew of UCLA.

Cougars corner JC standout Walker

Cornerbacks are a recruiting priority for the Cougars and they have received an oral commitment from junior-college standout B. T. Walker, according to Cougfan.com.

Walker, a New Jersey native, starred at cornerback this season at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Calif.

He is 5 feet 10, 175 pounds. Among the schools recruiting him were Oregon State, Rutgers and Boston College.
