Washington State football assistant coaches
New Washington State coach Mike Leach has a staff of 11 assistant coaches.
Mike Breske, 54, defensive coordinator and defensive backs
Spent last two years as defensive coordinator on the Montana staff ... Had long association under Joe Glenn at Wyoming (2003-08) and before that, at Northern Colorado.
Jeff Choate, 41, linebackers
Product of St. Maries, Idaho, spent past six seasons on Boise State's staff, most recently as special-teams coach.
Dave Emerick, 32, chief of staff
Established relationship with Leach in late 1990s at Kentucky as a football-office intern, later spent six years with him at Texas Tech and was at Arizona the past two years.
Jim Mastro, 46, running backs
Came from Rick Neuheisel's fired staff at UCLA, where he helped install the "Pistol" offense after 11 years at Nevada ... Was a running back at Cal Poly in 1987, when Leach, as an assistant, began his coaching career.
Clay McGuire, 29, offensive line
Last stop was East Carolina staff ... A 2004 Texas Tech grad who played H-back for Leach, then held a variety of roles on the Texas Tech staff.
Eric Morris, 26, inside receivers
This is his first full-time coaching job after two years as an offensive grad assistant at Houston ... Played at Texas Tech in 2005-08.
Eric Russell, 44, assistant head coach/special teams
Another product of St. Maries, Idaho, who was on the Tennessee staff the past two years ... Before that, he was on Leach's last Texas Tech staff in 2009, following a two year-stint at Louisiana Tech and a 13-year run at North Texas.
Joe Salave'a, 36, defensive line
Arizona grad is a nine-year NFL veteran who coached defensive line at Arizona in 2011 and at San Jose State in 2009-10.
Dennis Simmons, 38, outside receivers
Brigham Young grad who spent 10 years with Leach at Texas Tech and the past two seasons at East Carolina under Leach's ex-aide Ruffin McNeill.
Paul Volero, 41, outside linebackers
Spent last two years as assistant at Key West (Fla.) HS ... Has coaching background at Central Michigan, West Virginia and in preps.
Antonio Huffman, 29, operations
Former defensive back at Texas Tech, then worked there under Leach. Spent the past two years at East Carolina.
