Idols on tour: Talking with Allison Iraheta and Scott MacIntyre
Posted by Bob Payne
Their choices for desert-island artists:
- Allison: Jack White, Janis Joplin
- Scott: Bruce Hornsby, Jamie Collum and Jimmy Eat World.
Favorite halloween costume:
- Allison: Can't really think of one.
- Scott: Scorpion from Mortal Combat.
Allison says she's still doing school now -- she's 17 -- and that she's pretty much started her senior year. She doesn't just want to get her GED. "I really want to graduate."
I asked Scott if there was one song that was any more difficult than the others to learn on the piano. He said there wasn't really, and that the tough part was learning both the words and the music in only a few days. It was interesting listening to him talk about how easy it is for him to pick up the music, especially since he's been playing for so long.
"I can listen to a song on the radio and pretty much pick it up immediately," he said. With his vision impairment, he learns it all from sound.
Ah, then there's the tour bus issue, and the fact that only three of the top 10 finalists are women, so they have more space on their bus. "It's really no fair," says Scott, maybe only half kidding.
